Consumers seeking reassurance on car insurance

Our audience insight community recently shared their thoughts (and concerns) on the rising cost of car insurance with 9in10 having been affected and almost 7in10 very concerned prices will continue to increase.

27% told us they’d cutback elsewhere whilst 1in5 have considered / are likely to reduce the number of cars in their household. As expected, opinion on insurance brands isn’t favourable with less than a fifth saying that car insurance companies are “honest and transparent” and over half saying the reason for increases is due to companies knowing consumers have no choice but to pay! Our community also told us how they’d like car insurance brands to communicate with them.

NI regains its habit for shopping according to footfall

According to a new report by the Northern Ireland Retail Consortium, Northern Ireland had the strongest leap in footfall of all UK regions in the four weeks before Easter, with Belfast footfall up 9.4% during the same period – the best performance of 11 UK cities.

For context, the city with the next-strongest growth was Liverpool where footfall was up 4.8%. It is suggested that the return of the Executive and the end of public sector strikes helped, combined with cuts in national insurance which gave consumers access to more disposal income. Shopping centres in Northern Ireland also recorded growth of 5.1% year on year. Whilst the retail environment continues to be challenging, this positive news reveals a highly competitive retail sector in NI.

Bus provides more than enough space for Xtra Space

Local self-storage company, Xtra Space, made their bus advertising debut in April by harnessing the power of Supersides.

At 6 metres long and offering an advertising canvas measuring 4m2, there was no need for ’Xtra’ space for this highly impactful campaign. In addition to their service offering, Supersides provided Xtra Space with an area to include logos, branding, attention-grabbing headlines and even a striking call to action. Supersides also boast increased visibility due to their towering placement 15 feet above clutter and other commonplace urban obstructions.

Recent investment by Global’s partner, Translink, has seen the double deck bus fleet across NI expand with 435 Supersides now available – taking campaigns into every postcode sector.

Multi-million-pound, The Foundry, to open in June

Recruitment is underway for new roles ahead of the June opening of Belfast’s latest hotel development. The Foundry Belfast is a multi-million-pound boutique hotel with bar and restaurant set in the heart of City’s main nightlife area, the Cathedral Quarter.

With the same owners as the City’s St Anne’s Square development, The Foundry will transform the site of the original Harp Bar on Hill Street into a 350-capacity bar and restaurant and twenty boutique hotel rooms across three floors. The new hotel aims to challenge the traditional boutique hotel model whilst retaining the legendary status of the original site which saw the Harp Bar host popular punk bands such as The Undertones, The Outcasts and Stiff Little Fingers in the late 70s and early 80s.
