Changing Public Perception

Options exists to empower adults with learning disabilities and autism to live full, independent, and ordinary lives on their own terms.

Public understanding of disability is often shaped by assumptions about what support funding provides. Options wanted to highlight that while statutory funding covers essential support, it does not fund many of the experiences, opportunities and connections that make life feel full.

Options set out to speak to real people to educate and break these assumptions with an activiation day in Liverpool city centre. The charity needed support to amplify their message and attract more people to their activation stall within the city centre.

Steven Carney – Marketing and Fundraising Manager, Options said:

“[The campaign] was important because we are a charity who don’t usually do much OOH advertising. On the week of the campaign, we had a stall in the city centre of Liverpool and we wanted the advertising space to complement this activity.”

the big idea

Options delivered high-impact, text-led creative across Liverpool’s digital Street Hubs. Bold, colourful straplines focused on the experiences and opportunities that make life meaningful.

The campaign highlighted everything from everyday independence, such as travelling by bus or doing the weekly shop, to the moments that bring joy, connection and fulfilment, like a trip to the beach for an ice cream or a night out with friends. By showcasing both, the creative helped illustrate the difference between funded support and a full life.

This solution came after reviewing multiple options with Options, working collaboratively to find the perfect campaign option to maximize both budget and impact.

To reach more people, digital screens were handpicked alongside a live, two-day street activation stall where the charity’s passionate team met the public face-to-face.

Steven Carney – Marketing and Fundraising Manager, Options said:

“Global made the process seamless and so easy. [They] really understood what we were doing and made OOH accessible to us.”

making it happen

Choosing digital Street Hubs and a shorter run time kept every penny of the budget focused on the activation to make it accessible for a local charity.

The vibrant, text-only creative challenged passers-by to pause, rethink their preconceptions, and see adults with learning disabilities as capable, equal members of the community.

In the heart of Liverpool, these screens were a visual anchor for the charity’s pop-up stand, turning digital impressions into heartfelt, real-world conversations and donations.
