Global, the Media and Entertainment group, today announced that its Chief Commercial Officer, Mike Gordon, is stepping down from the role in 2027 after 18 years at the media group. He will remain on the Global Board and will move into the role of Executive Advisor to Simon Pitts, Global’s Group CEO, once his successor is in place.

Mike Gordon – Chief Commercial Officer, Global
Mike Gordon first joined Founder and Executive President, Ashley Tabor-King CBE, and previous Group CEO and now Chair, Stephen Miron, at Global in 2008. Mike and Stephen actually started at Global on the same day and were part of the launch team that revolutionised the commercial radio market, returning it to growth after years of decline. Since then, Global’s commercial growth has included the launch of countless new audio brands, the introduction of pioneering advertising exchange, DAX, the acquisition of three Outdoor companies, the retention of high-profile Outdoor advertising contracts including Transport for London (TfL), the launch of Global Studios and subsequent acquisition of next gen content businesses The Fellas Studios and The Overlap, long-term sponsorships for live events like the Summertime and Jingle Bell balls, and most recently, the launch of video sales on YouTube.
Simon Pitts, Group CEO of Global, said: “Mike’s legacy at Global is nothing short of remarkable – not simply the scale of the commercial business we have today but also the incredible team he has built. In his time at Global Mike has delivered billions in revenues, disrupted the market with new advertising models and innovated with market-leading partnerships, gaining the universal respect and acclaim of his colleagues and industry peers along the way.
He has overseen continuous commercial growth in Global’s Audio, Outdoor, DAX and now podcast businesses, constantly surpassing expectations with market-defining brands including Capital, Heart and LBC, alongside one of the UK’s fastest-growing entertainment apps, Global Player, a slate of award-winning and chart-topping podcasts, as well as outdoor brands like TfL, BT Street Hub and, most recently, Billboards by Global.
Everyone at Global is immensely grateful for everything Mike has achieved and delighted he will remain in the Global family, and on the Global Board.”
Ashley Tabor-King CBE, Founder & Executive President of Global, said: “Mike has been an enormous part of Global over the last 18 years, driving incredible revenue growth. Mike has always instinctively understood Global’s product roadmap from the inside, which has enabled him to devise the best way to present that to clients to achieve true buy-in to our strategy, creating true and lasting commercial partnerships. From the very beginning, Mike was part of the small team that helped to take Global’s vision and turn it into reality. He is the engine that transformed Global commercially into the success that the company is today, and I am eternally grateful for everything he has done over the last 18 years, and delighted he’ll remain on the Board and as an Advisor to Simon. Thank you Mike, onto the next chapter!”
“I started on the same day as Stephen Miron and I’ve been grateful for every moment at this very special company.
Many of my top team have been on this journey with me, and I genuinely believe we have the best commercial team in the business.
It goes without saying that I’m absolutely delighted to still be a part of Global’s future – after 18 years it still feels full of energy, we’re constantly innovating, never standing still and there is so much more to come.”

So much of Global’s commercial success can be attributed to Mike and the team he’s built. His dedication and commitment to the company has never diminished and it was a privilege to have been side by side with Mike all these years and I am delighted that he’s agreed to continue to remain part of the Global family.”
Mike Gordon joined Global in 2008, prior to that he was Deputy Managing Director of News International subsidiary News Group Newspaper and spent four years as Managing Director of Virtual Internet, an internet service provider.
