This morning, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, joined Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, the UK’s biggest commercial breakfast show, live from the Isles of Scilly for a special broadcast on Friday 22nd May.
Prince William is visiting the Isles of Scilly to officially open a new facility designed to increase medical capacity and improve access to healthcare across the islands, and to mark the occasion he joined the Heart Breakfast team for a special live broadcast.
This morning Prince William discussed the opening of the new hospital wing, aimed at improving maternity services for families living on the Isles of Scilly and social care for elderly residents. Explaining the importance of the expansion, the Prince said the hospital “hasn’t been upgraded or expanded for quite a few years,” adding that pregnant women previously had to travel to the mainland to give birth, despite difficult weather conditions that led to emergencies. William added: “I think down here is where they delivered…on an aircraft, it’s the only time it’s happened in the UK.”
The Prince also spoke candidly about family life and royal duties during his appearance on Heart Breakfast, saying he was left “very proud” after Princess Catherine made her first official international visit since her cancer diagnosis, adding: “She’s an amazing mum and an amazing wife, and literally our family couldn’t cope without her so she’s been absolutely stunning.” He also joked about the school run with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, laughing that Louis will “leave jam fingerprints throughout the car which is really helpful”. Elsewhere, The Duke of Cornwall revealed he prepares scones the “Devonian way”, explaining: “I learned from my grandmother, and she would definitely, she would have the cream on first.”
Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden is the UK’s biggest commercial breakfast show, and Heart is the biggest commercial radio brand with 12.5 million weekly listeners.
