We know that being more sustainable is a journey, not a destination.
Global have been making changes to improve our sustainability credentials for over 10 years, demonstrating how environmental thinking sits at the heart of our culture.
We are committed to playing our part and continuing to invest in new ideas and methods that will further reduce our environmental impact and carbon footprint and as such, enable our customers to reduce theirs
September 2025:
Eliminated shrink wrap from our packaging, avoiding 365km of single use plastic per year.
April 2025:
Implemented an industry-first ‘de-inking’ step to our bus board recycling process, meaning a greater proportion of recycled content can be used in new bus boards, resulting in a carbon reduction of up to 80%.
February 2025:
Implemented a reuse and return scheme for cardboard tube packaging used for bus and tunnel wrap graphics, avoiding waste and the need for new packaging.
December 2024:
Completed Project Bright Green Phase 1, converting 2,462 units, saving TfL over 2.5 million kWh every year!

Recycling solution found for bus wraps and tunnel wraps

This is a result of finding recycling solutions for even more of our classic Outdoor products under OSI.
Project Bright Green kicks off.
Replacing fluorescent bulbs with LEDs across backlit displays on London Underground for 60% higher energy efficiency
OSI Partner Engagement Program kicks off.
A crucial part of our decarbonisation journey is to engage with suppliers and contractors to see how we can help them to be greener.
Move to paperless for warehouse operatives.
All information is sent to operatives’ tablets, saving us printing 56,000 pieces of paper every year!
Reduced transport emissions associated with our supply chain.
By receiving print from just two printers, we have reduced the number of vehicles arriving at our warehouses by 65% daily
Recycling solution found for dry- and wet-posting paper used on TfL.
This means that all our pulp-based products can be recycled together, and limits what we send to energy-from-waste
Launched our closed-loop recycled bus boards.
We print directly onto the boards, which are then chipped and put into new polypropylene products at end of life, including into our own bus boards. This is a big win for our circular economy goals!
Launched the Outdoor Sustainability Initiative.
A key part of our Scope 3 decarbonisation
Introduced backing-paper recycling.
This increased recycling rates from 18.5% to 46.8% across our warehouses in a year!
Reduced the number of bus board spares printed.
This halved waste generated from bus advertising spares which weren’t needed.
Mandated that our contractors follow our zero waste to landfill policy.
Contractors also must record and report waste to Global
Zero waste to landfill policy introduced across Global.
Any waste that can’t be recycled is sent to an energy from waste facility, where it is burned. Energy from burning is sent back to the grid, and the ash left over is used in construction materials such as breezeblocks.
Launched a recycled 48-sheet poster skin.
This product is made from post-consumer recycled waste, such as plastic bottles! We still use this product today.
