Classic FM is to welcome John Humphrys, one of Britain’s best-known and most distinguished broadcasters, to its presenter line-up next week.

John Humphrys will host Classic FM’s More Music Breakfast from Monday 28th October to Friday 1st November inclusive (6am to 9am), as he stands in for regular presenter Tim Lihoreau.

The show promises to be a more relaxing and calmer programme than the one Humphrys presented on BBC Radio 4 for 33 years, with three hours of the world’s greatest classical music. As part of Classic FM’s presenting team, he will join a host of other renowned broadcasters including Moira Stuart, who presents the breakfast news bulletins, John Suchet, Bill Turnbull, Myleene Klass, Alan Titchmarsh, Alexander Armstrong and Charlotte Hawkins.

With a hugely successful career spanning six decades, the multi-award-winning Humphrys has proved to be one of the UK’s most recognised and formidable presenters. On television and radio, he has anchored many of the country’s flagship news programmes, including the BBC’s Nine O’Clock News and the Today programme.

“I’m struggling to think of a greater contrast with my old job: the bliss of Beethoven and Brahms instead of Brexit and backstops! Maybe there really is another world out there!”

Sam Jackson, Classic FM’s Senior Managing Editor said: “John Humphrys is one of this country’s genuinely iconic broadcasters. For more than 30 years, millions of people have woken up to him every morning, so we are thrilled that John will now be hosting a very different breakfast programme on Classic FM. It’s a privilege to welcome him to the UK’s biggest classical music station and I know that our listeners will really enjoy tuning in next week.”

John Humphrys will present Classic FM’s More Music Breakfast from Monday 28th October to Friday 1st November, 6am to 9am. Classic FM is available across the UK on 100-102 FM, DAB digital radio and TV, at and on the Classic FM and Global Player apps.
