Global, the Media & Entertainment Group, today announced new roles and promotions within its Broadcasting & Content team.

Richard Steel is promoted to Managing Editor of Heart, the UK’s biggest commercial radio station, which recently enjoyed a record-breaking RAJAR with more than 10.9 million weekly listeners tuning in.

Two of Global’s Managing Editors are promoted into newly created Senior Managing Editor positions. Sally Ardis becomes Senior Managing Editor for Heart, Smooth and Gold. Sally is currently Head of Branded Content and Managing Editor for Smooth and her new senior leadership role gives oversight of all three brands to unlock opportunities for further growth by sharing ideas and capabilities.

LBC’s Managing Editor Tom Cheal is promoted to Senior Managing Editor for LBC. Under Tom’s leadership, LBC has achieved its highest audiences and has navigated some of the biggest moments in British history. LBC celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, as the UK’s first commercial radio station.

Group Head of Programming Operations, Greg Hughes, is promoted to Director of Strategy, Innovation & Talent Development for Broadcasting & Content. Greg has recently led a number of new station launches, including Capital Chill and Radio X Classic Rock, has introduced fresh presenter talent to Global as well as being instrumental in delivering new schedules and shows for Heart Scotland and Capital Scotland. Greg will continue to lead Global’s regional Broadcasting and Content teams.

Andy Everett, who was previously Heart’s Managing Editor, is moving to be Managing Editor for Scotland. Both Heart Scotland and Capital Scotland launched brand new schedules this week, broadcasting live from Glasgow seven days a week. Global’s investment in Scotland is building a world-class creative hub for the live radio stations plus digital content and podcasts for entertainment app Global Player.
