FAQs
What is RCS?
RCS stands for Rich Communication Services – a messaging service that uses data (via your mobile network or wi-fi), and enhances what you can do in your device’s normal messaging app.
For example, RCS allows businesses to send information to customers, such as:
• Promotions and offers
• Competitions and prize draws
• Event updates and reminders
Does it cost anything to use RCS Messaging?
It won’t cost you anything to use RCS Messaging but, as RCS Messaging uses your data connection, it will either come out of your data allowance or via your WiFi connection
How can I tell if I’m using RCS Messaging?
• On Android: In your messaging app, the send button will indicate if the message is being sent via RCS or SMS/MMS.
• On iPhone (iOS 18 and later): Messages appear as green bubbles (like SMS). Look for the small “RCS” label in the text-entry field to confirm.
What communications might I receive via RCS from Global?
If you receive messages from Global via RCS, you may receive:
• informational messages about our services, and
• promotional content that allows you to enter our Premium competitions, using a wider range of entry options available than via SMS.
TERMS OF SERVICE
Privacy and Data Use
You may receive RCS messages from Global if:
• You have opted in to receive marketing messages (e.g. when you tick the relevant consent box upon making an entry via our Win+ websites)
• You have entered a Premium Rate competition via SMS and haven’t opted out of marketing messages.
You will be provided with an opt-out option with every marketing message you receive.
When you interact with RCS messages from Global, we may collect limited data such as:
• Delivery and read receipts
• Interaction with buttons or suggested replies
• Responses sent via the RCS channel
This data is used solely to monitor campaign performance and improve future communications.
For more information on how we handle personal data, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
Messages sent via RCS from Global are free to receive, but your mobile provider’s standard data rates may apply depending on your plan.
Device and Network Compatibility
RCS is supported on most modern Android and iPhone (iOS 18+) devices. If RCS is not supported by your device or network:
• Messages may be delivered via SMS instead, or
• You may not receive messages at all.
Security and Authenticity
RCS messages come from verified business accounts, so you’ll be able to see that a message has genuinely come from one of Global’s brands. Look for the verified sender badge in your messaging app to ensure authenticity. Do not engage with unverified senders claiming to be from Global or a Global brand.
